ABOUT DEPED GAPAN CITY
History
The Division of Gapan City was established by virtue of R.A. 9022 sponsored by then Congresswoman Julita L. Villareal, 4th Congressional District, Nueva Ecija.
žBy virtue of Dep.Ed. No. 50, s. 2002, the Division of Gapan City was declared open and officially separated from its mother Division of Nueva Ecija effective January 24, 2003.

žLeaders
Dr. Luzminda C. Pelayo, the first Schools Division Superintendent, served the city until her retirement in December 14, 2005. She was succeeded by Mrs. Estelita G. Pineda, who in a very short time, transformed the Division into one of the best in the region in terms of academic performance. On December 26, 2012, the scepter of the educational system in the City Schools Division of Gapan found itself on the hands of Dr. Estrelita S. Cunanan who initiated the metamorphosis of the Division to abide by with the new organizational structure of the Department of Education. At present, Mrs. Silverlina A. De Jesus, CESO VI is at the vanguard of the institution, continuously improving to better serve its stakeholders and develop life-long learners.
žBeginnings
Gapan City Division Office started operation in a two- room building at Gapan South Central School. The all out support extended by the then City Mayor, Engr. Ernesto L. Natividad, led into fruition the construction of a spacious DepED two-storey building.

The Division has 19 elementary schools in Gapan North and 14 in Gapan South District. A total of 33 public elementary schools. There are 8 public high schools.

The Blue Ring: symbol of the faithful promotion of peace.
The Central Flame: symbol of the enlightenment through education which is offered to all.
The Torch: a replica from the DepED seal, symbol of commitment and accountablity to the vision and mission of the Department of Education.
White Shield with Red Margin: symbol of being on guard to protect and ensure the delivery of quality education.
The Rice Stalks: symbol of a good harvest and the rural areas
The Slippers: symbol of progress and the urban areas
The Golden Olive Wreath: symbol of excellence and outstanding performance; to be accountable in producing learners who are eligible to wear golden laurels.
The Divine Shepherdess: symbol of being a shepherd who will tend flocks to be Maka-Diyos, Makakalikasan, Makatao, and Makabansa.
The Three Crowns: symbol of an important journey; the Three Kings' path is guided through a star, this division is in the hands of God.
